Me, Katya, your host: See My Story
Beanlet: My beautiful daughter. She’s 7, boisterous, fabulous, sassy, and deaf. So she does it all in sign language (ASL). She recently got a cochlear implant and is still getting used to it. She’s learning to speak, but her primary communication remains ASL. Which is FINE with me! She’s smart and determined. Beanlet lives with her dad, exhubs#1, during the week. She comes over after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and stays over every-other weekend.
Jack: My wonderful, amazing boyfriend. He’s a true partner in every sense of the word. He’s also 6’5″, a total geek when it comes to sports or nature, but a complete e-tard otherwise.
BroHam: My brother who used to live with us. This guy is a mad gamer. Xbox, PC, online, whatever… he plays and enjoys it and generally kicks its ass. This strange gaming superpower extends to most board games too. It’s really annoying but basically, BroHam is the odds-on favorite in any contest.
G: Jack’s dad. He’s a curmudgeon. And a nihilistic fatalistic atheist. A true-believer atheist, really. He’s bending over backwards trying to get me to like him right now. But after a few major conflicts between him and me, and his ass-backwards falling over himself attempts at apologizing without changing, I’m kinda done. I tolerate him at this point.
W: Jack’s half-brother. W has schitzo-affective disorder. Which is a combination of paranoid schitzophrenia and bipolar disorder (in his case). He moved in with us in June. It’s been a huge challenge adjusting to living with him, but he’s got a kind heart and is trying hard. There’s some good background info on W in this post and this post.
Mumli The Dwarf: This is Jack’s best friend. He’s a really good kid – a little socially stunted at times, though. He really deserves his very own post and whenever I get around to it I will link to it here. But in the meantime, what you need to know is that Mumli once went 8 months without shaving or trimming or in any way maintaining his beard. So he’s got a big, bushy, bright fucking red, Snow White & the 7 Dwarves beard going on. Or maybe it’s more of a Lord of the Rings beard. But either way he looks like a dwarf. And he has this tendency to mumble. So Jack, BroHam and I nicknamed him Mumli the Dwarf.
Puppy Breath: We got a dog. He’s an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix. He’s about 10 months old now and is the sweetest, most even tempered puppy ever. I love him to bits & bits.
If I mention someone in any of my posts that isn’t here, please feel free to leave me a comment for some background & I’ll add them here 🙂
